No kissing allowed. That is the message stated by this newly posted sign at Warrington Bank Quay station, located in northwest England, between Liverpool and Manchester. After a local business networking group determined a train station had to become more efficient, the results were the installation of the sign.
Many are unhappy and find offense in the decision. Virgin defends their actions stating it was a "light hearted way" to help unclog drop off and loading zones to quicken the boarding of trains.
The implementations of the rule has been called "ridiculous" and "daft." Questions how it will be enforced arisen.
A Virgin Rail spokesman commented saying "We will be handling this sensibly."

Have you ever taken a local train in England?
ReplyDeleteWere you ever on a train platform in East Germany shortly after the fall of the wall?
Well, about the only difference is that in one country they speak English and the other, German.
I guess they don't serve tea anymore on the English trains but I wouldn't be surprised if you still have your old gent with the his worn out navy blue uniform, his piece of slate and his piece of white chalk he uses to write down the train times on with. He then proudly raises the freshly written piece of slate for all to behold and be informed on the arrival or departure of the next trains.
I remember years ago when I was 21 and was kissing my young bride of 19 in front of the library at Wayne State University in Detroit. A policeman came up to us and told to stop. I guess my rebellious ways started back around then.
Paul!
ReplyDeleteOn this kissing issue thingy! I've got to tell you that I've been spinning my wheels for days on this topic! What a can of worms! Cease kissing and justify doing by claiming it will
improve efficiency???
Anyway, now that you've managed to conjure up a visual for us, I can clearly see them trying to enforce this law!
And another thing! WAIT A SECOND HERE! Have you now added to this quasi anti kissing frenzy by suggesting it initiated your rebeliousness? UH! Wanna give that a second thought?
Only kidding. Just really happy to see you up here.
Thank you eve so much!
Sincerely,
Angela
